Liverpool Parking.
So, after a £70 reduced to £35 ticket from Liverpool City Council, I emailed the parking department and asked where can us bikers park? Here's the response.
(Please remember that Sefton Council have different rules- please see the Sefton parking link.)
In relation to your questions I would reply as follows:
We currently have 10 motorcycle parking bays in the city however it is difficult to say exactly how many individual spaces this accommodates, although I would expect there are about 70 spaces in all.
Locations of the on-street bays are shown in the attached file. Off-street spaces are allocated in Mount Pleasant car park, Victoria St car park, Burgess St car park and Hunter Street car park.
Motorcycles have actually never been legally allowed to use the on-street parking spaces in Liverpool , although in the past such parking may have been ignored, it is now enforced. One reason for not allowing such parking is the problem of how to pay and display. Clearly tickets could wash off a motorcycle in the rain, or someone could remove the ticket leading to disputes over payment. With these issues in mind and the fact that the City Council provides free on and off-street parking for motorcycles, the decision was made to enforce the restrictions that have always been in place.
Details of the City Centre Movement Strategy are on the City Council’s website, or further information may be obtained from the Transportation Section of Highways Management.
Motorcycle parking bays will be inspected on a regular basis by the Highways Inspectors employed by Enterprise Liverpool. I am unable to advise when they were last inspected.
Any proposals for additional motorcycle parking bays would be determined via the Transportation Section of Highways Management. Kevin Toye (Kevin.toye@liverpool.gov.uk) may be able to advise further .
